General questions:
What is an urbanmission?
A URBANmission is an outdoor escape game that takes place in a city district or on a walkable terrain. Tricky puzzles embedded in a funny story have to be solved in a given time.
are family missions only suitable for families?
The family missions are simpler variants of the original missions. They are suitable for:
- escape game beginners
- groups who want to take the game easy
- for families with children
The family missions are generally recommended for children over 10 years old.
from what age can you play an urbanmission?
Note the corresponding comment on each mission. Basically, the missions are suitable for 3 age categories:
- from 7 years – children missions
- from 10 years – family missions
- from 16 years – originals for adults
are family missions suitable for a children's birthday party?
Yes! All family missions provide a perfect setting for a children’s birthday party or general children party.
Basically, up to 20 children can play at the same time.
are the urbanmissions wheelchair accessible?
Each URBANmissions takes place at a different location. If a mission takes place directly in the city, it is generally wheelchair accessible. However, contact us to be sure.
Teams and online booking:
How big should a team be?
For most URBANmissions we recommend a team size of 2-5 people.
Can two or more teams play simultaneously and or against each other?
Most missions can be played in duels in two or more teams. Note the corresponding comment on each mission.
What does duel mean?
Duel is a game variant in which two or more teams play against each other. All teams have to solve the same puzzles, but in a different order.
At the end all teams compare the achieved score.
Can I play spontaneously or do I have to book a slot online?
You can play all URBANmissions city spontaneously whenever you want. You don’t have to book an appointment. You will receive the email with all the necessary information and instructions for the game a few seconds after ordering. Then, depending on the game, you have to print out a sheet and off you go on an adventure!
We would like to do a teambuilding at your place. How many people can play at the same time?
Whether team building, team event, bachelor party, stag night, school class or (children’s) birthday party, at URBANescape several teams can always play at the same time.
Groups up to 24 people can play without supervision on their own mobile phones/tablets.
For larger groups we offer supervised events. The maximum number of people varies depending on the city.
Before the game:
What happens if I realize on site that my battery is too low or the gps is not working?
You can return the redeemed voucher code on your phone/tablet and use it on another device. You can return it via the trash can icon on the first screen of the mission.
Very important: once a mission has been started, i.e. time is running, it cannot be returned. So make sure that your battery is sufficiently charged.
how should i dress?
Make sure you are dressed appropriately for the weather. The Outdoor URBANmissions take place outside during the whole game.
where is the starting point of an urbanmission?
The approximate starting point is given for each mission on our website. Once you have loaded the mission into the app, you will find out the exact starting point on the first screen of the mission.
During the game:
Do we have to use public transport on an URBAN mission?
No. All URBANmissions take place in a relatively small area and the distances between the puzzles are short. Thus, the game is compact and does not lose its excitement. In the vast majority of puzzles it is not even possible to move between them by public transport.
Do I need internet access during the game?
Once you’ve loaded a mission into the app, you generally don’t need internet.
An exception are puzzles made with augmented reality (AR). The phone/tablet you will use AR with needs internet access.
However, each mission is also developed in a version without AR, so you can play it without internet. Note the corresponding comment on each mission.
However, internet is always necessary for downloading the app and the purchased URBANmission to your phone/tablet. But you can do this easily at home with wifi.
Internet is also necessary for the transmission of the achieved score at the end of the game. This can also be done at home if you connect to the wifi. You have to select the played mission again and click through to the last screen. Then the points will be transmitted and you can view your score in the leaderboard.
Can I play in English?
Most missions are also playable in English. Note the appropriate language option for each mission and select the appropriate language when booking.
